One critically injured, cordons in place after 'serious incident' in Napier

One person has been critically injured and a street in the Napier suburb of Onekawa has been cordoned off following a "serious incident" overnight.

Police were called to Alexander Ave at around 3.10am.

Cordons were in place at the intersections of Hitchings Ave and Alexander Ave, Dinwiddie Ave and Wallis Pl, and Alexander Ave near Dinwiddie Ave.

"A scene examination is underway this morning and cordons are expected to remain in place through the day," a police spokesperson said.

"At this early stage, police are unable to comment further."

St John said one ambulance, one rapid response unit and one manager responded.

"Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital in a critical condition," a spokesperson said.
