Manchester United fan's hair-raising run grows on and on

Sometimes it doesn't pay to show unwavering commitment to your sports team.

That's the harsh lesson learned by Manchester United fan Frank Ilet, who has become an online sensation after pledging to not cut his hair until the club wins five games in a row.

A rotten season has left him with an impressive hairdo, now 222 days into the backfiring hair challenge.

"I'm a bit scared because I'm in Spain at the moment, it's going to be a lot hotter," he told Breakfast.

His team has run out of available fixtures this year — meaning he'll have to wait until at least August to achieve the milestone of five consecutive victories.

"[It started] just to spread some humour in tough times for Man Utd fans. Little did I know there are a mix of fans, rival fans following along not wanting me to cut my hair again."

"I'll keep going until next season, it's going to be a long, long summer."
