Shots fired on Auckland's Karangahape Rd, man arrested

Two people were shot and injured on Auckland's Karangahape Rd overnight, police say, before officers arrested a 21-year-old man and recovered a firearm.

Officers were at the scene of the incident at about 3.50am, where "several shots were fired," a police spokesperson said.

"As a result, two persons received injuries to their leg and foot, which required medical attention. A short time later, police located the alleged offender and firearm."

A 21-year-old man will appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow on serious injury and firearms-related charges.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to call 105.
