Two critical after alleged stabbing at Auckland night market

Two people have been critically injured following an alleged stabbing at Auckland's Pakuranga night markets this evening.

Police were called to the incident on Aylesbury St in Pakuranga around 6.45pm following a report of a stabbing.

Two people are being treated by paramedics.

A suspect is being sought by police.

The market has been cordoned off while officers investigate and speak with witnesses, police said.

Police are in talks with the organisers to close the markets for the rest of the evening.

Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area.
